Shelter for our power shovel

The shelter outside the loco shed is for our power shovel, constructed by the VEB Weimar. Its type designation is T174-2, and in the days of the GDR, almost every industrial concern had at least one. The Deutsche Reichsbahn had large numbers of shovels of this type on its books We acquired the vehicle in 2012 and it has been restored to working order. It is now used for earthworks, for lifting heavy loads and for coaling our steam locomotives.
