From the entrance lobby you first reach the society's workshop. Here on display there are various machine tools which we use for working on components for our historical exhibits. Most of them came from the former Salzwedel motive power depot and were brought here in 2012. They include a lathe, a bench drill, a power saw and various other machinery used in metalworking.
The workshop hall was used as a material store for the last few years of operation of the depot and was equipped with high-rack shelves. These however were removed when the Deutsche Bahn AG discontinued using the depot in the mid-1990s.
