Last Saturday we worked diligently on the vehicles again. First, the loading area of our SKL was dismantled. Over the years, the boards of the loading area had rotted. They are now being replaced.
The maintenance of the steam locomotive 50 3570 is also progressing. Here, the flaps of the so-called ash box were removed, straightened and fitted with new sheet metal. The ash box is located under the locomotive's fire grate and collects combustion residues from the fire that heats the boiler.
The firebox was thoroughly cleaned
Work also continued on the tender. After painstakingly removing the old paint, it was now time for a coat of primer. Black paint will follow
The electrical system was also tested. As you can see in the following picture, the current is also reaching the rearmost lantern on the tender.
In addition, the painting of the diesel locomotive 102 076 was finished. The superstructure is now bright orange, the frame is black and the wheels and coupling rods are light grey. We will present the locomotive on the occasion of our spring festival at the beginning of May.
After the weather had calmed down, it was also time to inspect the roof of the locomotive shed. Fortunately, no storm damage was found.
