15.01.2024: All the best for the new year!

Dear newsletter subscribers, dear friends of our railway museum, we wish you all the best for the new year and hope that we will be able to tell you lots of interesting things again in 2024.
The year got off to a cosy start for us and we spent the cold of the past few days in warm rooms. Traditionally, our members celebrate the New Year's reception at the beginning of each year (there are already enough Christmas parties), which is always combined with a small excursion into the surrounding area. This year, we visited the GDR History Museum in Perleberg, which reminds of everyday life a few decades ago. Some of us recognised many objects that were indispensable in everyday socialist life. "Oh, look, we had that too" was often heard.
We can highly recommend the DDR History Museum. If you are ever in the area, don't just visit us, but also the neighbouring town of Perleberg. The museum is within walking distance of the railway station. You can find more information on the museum's website http://www.ddr-museum-perleberg.de.



Afterwards, there was a cosy get-together in the former dispatcher room of our shed, where we talked shop about new ideas and past events. Those who wanted to could also look at pictures of past events. It was a great day, proving that we are not only keen to work, but also love to socialise.


We are of course looking forward to the coming season and the events that are already on the horizon. And there is still enough time for you to make a note of the dates in your diary. Our museum will be open again regularly on Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. from 30 March 2024. If you would like to visit at other times, please contact us.
The spring steam event, which this year is themed around our 30th anniversary, will take place on 4 and 5 May 2024. The event is sure to eclipse all previous events, as we are planning on a larger scale this time. We will of course publish more information here, on our website and on social media as soon as something is finalised.
If you can't make it to this event, we recommend our summer and autumn events. They will take place on 6/7 July and 12/13 October 2024 in Wittenberge. We look forward to seeing you there!overview
